Hannah's Story
Hannah Otos is a freelance editor who specializes in films and digital content. She has also worked on trailers and TV spots, and has experience in photography and videography. Hannah has a passion for storytelling through post-production, whether it’s bringing a brand’s story to life through social media videos, working with a director to bring their script to the screen, or promoting a film or book through the magic of trailer editing.
With both of her parents being actors and working in theater, storytelling was a integral part of Hannah's early childhood. She would borrow her father’s video camera - which he typically used to record his audition tapes - to make short films with her younger sister and their friends in the neighborhood. It was then that she fell in love with storytelling and filmmaking, and found the magic of editing. At that time Hannah's editing software of choice was Windows Movie Maker. Now, she edits on Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid Media Composer.
Hannah began her professional post-production career working as an assistant editor on movie trailers and TV spots. She was mentored by award-winning trailer editors and creative directors and learned that details matter - whether that means moving a clip a frame forwards or backwards, or “frankensteining” a line together so a sound bite hits home, or using rhythmic sound design along with compelling music to bring a trailer to life. Hannah carries these early take-aways into each and every one of the projects she edits for clients. She believes that precision and creative problem-solving are key in the post-production process, and that there is almost always a way to meet a client’s needs when it comes to editing video. From working on larger projects with hours of footage to editing a video from just a few minutes of recorded material, Hannah has the experience, skills, and adaptability to tackle any project. With each project, she finds the magic in the edit so the audience feels something about your film, story, or brand.
In addition to her post-production expertise, Hannah has filmed promotional videos and live stream content for both Elon University and Duke University, has produced a few short documentaries, and has experience in wedding and event photography. She has also coordinated small production crews of videographers, audio engineers, and assistant editors for various video shoots for clients. Hannah will go to the moon and back for your project. Need an assistant editor? Hannah's also got you covered there.
